“I’m sorry. Please, forgive me.”
Five of the most powerful and healing words a human being can utter, and yet so few of us do. We are great at cataloging a laundry list of people who have done US wrong and who owe US an apology, but how forthright are we about the people in our lives that WE’VE hurt … those we need to seek emotional closure/healing with?
We are close to wrapping up our week on “Kindness Takes Courage” and today, I am asking you to be especially honest and brave. Here’s your Kindness Challenge:
—————[WHOOPS!! Please “FORGIVE” us, gang!! It seems we’ve exceeded our Vimeo upload capacity for the week. Working on getting the video uploaded directly. Luckily this Kindness Challenge is pretty straight forward. I trust that you can handle it w/out MY face grinning back at ya!! 😉 -cris]
So, granted … this is hardly a “woo-hoo PAR-TAY!!!” kind of challenge. But I’ll tell you this and I mean it with every ounce of earnestness that I have: Asking forgiveness IS a gift you give to someone.A gift!!! One I was grateful to be on the receiving end of after carrying an emotional weight and misunderstanding heavily in my heart for months. A kind conversation and heartfelt “I’m so sorry” truly felt like the clouds parting and the sun shining back through again…
So, while I understand that this feels like a “hard” challenge … because we have to be vulnerable in that space of forgiveness seeking … I’m telling you, it is incredibly liberating to neutralize stagnant emotional energy in your life, to step back into full integrity, and to know you’ve helped alleviate someone else of a painful emotional burden. Everyone gets their energy back. So give these healing words a try:
Be BRAVE!!! Maybe you spoke disrespectfully to a friend … maybe your broke your word to your family … maybe you took credit for someone else’s idea at work … maybe you stole the last piece of your daughter’s Valentine’s Day candy and didn’t tell her about it … (Oh, wait … that one was just me! doh!! … Sorry, Emerson!!! hahaha) …
Well, whatever it is, whether big or little, I’m super proud of all of you who give this challenge a try. And if today isn’t the best day to complete this particular challenge, I hope you’ll file it away in your heart for a moment that IS right.
Wishing you a day of positive closure and cleared energy.
P.S. Haven’t stopped by our Facebook page to give us a “like” yet?!! That’s okay. We forgive you. Make amends now by clicking this link <– and then giving the Rising Lotus Children’s Village-Nepal page the ‘ol thumbs up! Ahh, now doesn’t that feel liberating?!! 😉
