“Hey, Stupid! ….You’re fat! You’re ugly! And no one wants to hear what you have to say!”
You know what, if we spoke to our friends the way we speak to ourselves … we wouldn’t have very many friends.
I would NEVER put up with someone speaking to me in an unkind way, yet there is not a person on this planet crueler to me than I am to myself. Whassup with that?!!
You know what?… from now on, when it comes to negative self-talk: I’m not havin’ it!!
I’m just going to call on my inner Irish Philly girl and check myself on the spot. I invite you to do the same. Here’s your challenge:
So, if you aren’t from Philadelphia, than just pretend you are. Stand up for yourself! (Even if that means standing up TO yourself). For Lent (even if you don’t celebrate) try giving up negative self-talk! When you catch a negative, self-berating thought starting to attack, stop it in its tracks. Don’t put up with that!
Chose a different thought instead. One that cuts you a little slack and recognizes that just because you don’t look like an airbrushed super model doesn’t mean you aren’t beautiful. … and just because you don’t know every fact or understand every concept in the universe doesn’t mean you don’t have really important, interesting, insightful things to say.
No one is perfect, people! So, stop expecting yourself to be.
Just Say NO! to negative self talk. Tell your inner hater to take the day off.
Allow only kind thoughts ONLY up in that noggin of yours today, okay?
P.S. DON’T HATE! Show us a little love! Pop over to the Rising Lotus Children’s Village-Nepal Facebook page and give it a “like”… better yet, share this Kindness Challenge with your friends so they can give us a “like”, too! Thanks!
