The Kathmandu Environmental Education Project is an environmental NGO focused on providing travelers information how to travel safely and responsibly in Nepal. Another key focus is improving the livlihoods of those involved in the Nepali tourism industry: guides, porters and local communities.
KEEP has taken the initaitive to host environmental education programs for our girls over the years. Our directors Nate and Hari are members and hold ambassador roles with KEEP, spreading the mission to preserve Nepal’s natural and cultural beauty through ethical travel.

Freedom Kit Bags
Freedom Kit Bags (FKB) is a UK founded non-profit foundation whose mission is to end menstruation persecution through feminine hygiene education programs and in producing and providing Nepali made feminine hygiene kits to women across Nepal. FKB not only breaks down stigmas related to menstruation but equips women with the materials needed to ensure their health and dignity in a society in which menstruation is either ignored or ridiculed.
RLCV partnered with FKB in November to replace our girls’ previous reusable menstruation products, hosting local FKB ambsassador Nirmala in a menstruation education day. We are proud to share we have purchased 15 Freedom Kit Bags for our of age girls and along with two educational programs. Oracle Ray Academy
Oracle Ray Academy is a Nepali secondary school located in Naikap, Chandragiri, Kathmandu. Its mission is to provide a high quaility, well rounded educational experience for the children of the Naikap municipality ages 4 through 18. It offers English medium courses in addition to arts, theater, music and sport programs. Oracle Ray provides over 150 students full need based scholarships as apart of its mission to support children who otherwise would not have the means to attend.
RLCV director Nate Koehler befriended Orcale Ray’s principal Rajendra Thapa on his second day in Nepal in 2019 through mutual soccer coaching affiliations. What developed was a frienship rooted in values of youth development through education and giving. Oralce Ray has sponsored countless programs for Rising Lotus over these past three years, providing both tangible and social benefits to our girls in which we are humbly grateful. Nate has even been able to host English langage days and Basketball trainings at Oracle Ray’s invitation!
