Our Vision
To equip Nepali girls with skills and values needed to thrive in their future endeavors. We aim to empower the next generation of Nepal’s young women instilling the value of education, integrity, tolerance, self-reliance, community, creativity and innovative thought. Our ultimate vision is to see our children become contributing citizens to a better Nepal, one which sees advancements in poverty alleviation, healthcare, water and air quality, biodiversity, democratic participation, economic opportunity, and women’s rights.
Our Mission
To tackle extreme poverty and gender inequality by providing a nurturing home environment and an English medium education for disadvantaged Nepali girls, thus enabling their educational and social development.
Our Values
Physical Comfort
In order to thrive, every child must have their basic physical needs met. This is why at RLCV, each of our flowers is provided three nutritious meals per day, their own bed, personalized hygiene and sanitation items, and their own leisure and school clothing.
Emotional Support
We at RLCV are firm believers that it takes a village to provide the emotional support needed to develop fundamental values of empathy, self-confidence, and self-respect. We teach our flowers that care for each other, and their surroundings, takes priority over personal interests. Through the care given by our live-in staff, our childrens’ families, our supporters, our directors, and most importantly, shown to each other, our flowers have the support required to flourish.
Responsibility
Dedication to education is paramount at RLCV. Our flowers are taught to take self-responsibility for their learning through the resources available to them both at school and through private tutor sessions. This also applies to responsibility for their personal belongings and hygiene, both of which are taught as integral towards a quality life.
Integrity
Modeling behaviors of kindness, respect, dedication, empathy and selflessness, and responsibility all instill values of high integrity. We insure our directors, staff, educators, and supporters adhere to our high standards of behavior, whether it be towards humans or the non-human environment.
Community
No one is better than anyone else and each individual has a gift that is unique to just them. We pride ourselves on the sense of community within RLCV, where each of our flowers looks out for each other, celebrating each others’ innate talents.
Empathy
As our flowers have been subject to some of life’s most dire situations: loss of parents, extreme poverty, abandonment, bringing empathy to others’ situations ensures our flowers develop into young women who will change the world through their ability to deeply connect with the emotions of others.
Passion
We encourage our children to follow their passions. Whether that be in their studies, in dance, music, art, sport, cooking, or social work, we firmly believe that following your passion is what enables one to bring the most light to this world.
